Brandi Glanville reflects on her divorce from Eddie Cibrian and reveals the “sleazy” tactic he used for leverage.
When Brandi first joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2011, her storyline centered around her divorce from Eddie after his affair with LeAnn Rimes had made headlines for months. Brandi and the actor share two sons, Mason, 17, and Jake, 13, who were very young at the time, and the reality star talked openly on the show about her ex’s many affairs, including his fling with Vanderpump Rules star Sheana Shay.
As fans know, although Eddie had numerous extra-marital affairs, his relationship with the country music singer is what finally ended his marriage to Brandi as he ultimately left the former model for LeAnn.
On a recent episode of her podcast, Brandi Glanville Unfiltered, the outspoken star welcomed divorce attorney Dror Bikel, and the two discussed the many aspects of ending a marriage. Brandi decided to share some of her experiences and revealed a few things she’s never discussed publicly before, including how Eddie prevented her from hiring a notable attorney.
“My ex-husband called all of the good attorneys [in LA] — just to call and set up meetings — so that when I called, they were like, ‘It’s a conflict of interest,’” she explained as reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
As a result, Brandi claims she had to hire “the worst attorney” to represent her throughout their divorce proceedings. The guest attorney agreed that Eddie’s move is “a really sleazy thing to do,” but he explained that most lawyers have no way of knowing when someone is pulling that trick.
The Drinking and Tweeting author admits that she wasn’t on her best behavior as she and her ex battled it out in court.
“I think divorce definitely brings out the worst in people,” she professed. “I know I wasn’t my best self during my divorce because I was so angry. It was the worst time. I was the worst human being that I could be during that.”
Brandi added, “To think that someone that you loved so much could then want to go through the house and say, ‘You get this, you get this.’ It’s just so crazy.”
Even though it’s been over 10 years, the former reality star still has issues with both Eddie and LeAnn as they are forced to co-parent the boys. In March 2020, Brandi publicly slammed the couple for failing to modify their custody agreement amid the pandemic, and she wondered why they wouldn’t allow her to temporarily stay in their guest home so she could be with her sons during quarantine.
Then, in December 2020, Brandi praised LeAnn after the singer was named the winner of The Masked Singer. It’s unclear if the co-parents are still on good terms today.
